Frequently Asked Questions
How Credit Repair Works
1. What is credit repair and how does it work exactly?
Credit repair is the process of correcting inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, or unverifiable information on your credit report. These errors can hurt your credit score, affect your ability to get approved for loans, and cause you to pay higher interest rates.
At My Credit Results, credit repair works by following a structured legal process:
1. Credit Audit & Review
We review your full credit report to identify negative items that may be harming your score.
2. Consumer Protection Laws
We use federal laws — such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) — to dispute items that are not being reported accurately.
3. Dispute Process
We prepare and send dispute letters to the credit bureaus and/or creditors.
Each investigation round takes the bureaus 30–45 days to complete.
4. Bureau Responses
The bureaus must verify the accuracy of the account. If they cannot prove the information is accurate, they must update it or remove it.
5. Multiple Rounds If Needed
Some items are corrected in the first round; others may require several rounds depending on the complexity and how the bureaus respond.
6. Credit Monitoring & Progress Tracking
With MyScoreIQ®, your reports update every 30 days. We track changes, review updates, and guide you through positive credit-building habits.
7. Long-Term Improvement
Credit repair is not instant. It is a 6–12 month process, and results vary. But by removing inaccurate or unverifiable negative items and improving your credit habits, your credit score can improve over time.
Credit repair is a legal, structured process designed to give you the fair and accurate credit report you deserve.
2. What is the credit repair process with My Credit Results?
The credit repair process is a structured system designed to correct inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, or unverifiable information on your credit report. At My Credit Results, the process is simple and transparent:
1. Consultation & Credit Audit
We review your full credit report, identify negative items, explain your rights under federal law, and determine whether you need a 6-month or 12-month contract.
2. Enrollment & Credit Monitoring Setup
You will sign your service agreement and activate MyScoreIQ® credit monitoring.
You must provide:
- Your login credentials, and
- Your 4-digit PIN
so we can securely access your reports and FICO® scores every 30 days.
3. Dispute Preparation & Investigations
We prepare customized dispute letters and submit them to the credit bureaus and/or creditors.
Each investigation round takes 30–45 days.
4. Review Bureau Responses
Once the bureaus respond, we review updates and verify which items were:
- Removed
- Corrected
- Updated
- Or marked as “verified”
5. Multiple Rounds of Disputes (If Needed)
Many accounts require several rounds of disputes, depending on complexity and what the bureaus report back.
6. Ongoing Coaching & Credit Strategy
We guide you on credit habits such as:
- Utilization
- On-time payments
- Avoiding new negatives
- Building positive credit lines
7. Completion of Your Contract
Once your 6- or 12-month contract is completed and all disputes have been exhausted, we provide you with next-step recommendations, including funding, credit building, or business credit if applicable.
3. What types of items can be repaired on my credit?
We can work on fixing or investigating any inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, or unverifiable information on your credit report. These are the types of items that federal law allows us to dispute under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Common negative items we can work on include:
- Late payments
- Collections
- Charge-offs
- Medical bills
- Repossessions
- Evictions
- Foreclosures
- Bankruptcies
- Student loan delinquencies
- Judgments
- Tax liens
- Incorrect personal information
- Duplicate accounts
- Accounts that do not belong to you
We cannot remove accurate and verifiable information, but many items reported on credit files contain errors — which is why we audit, investigate, and dispute anything that is not being reported correctly.
How is my personal information stored and protected?
At My Credit Results, your personal information is treated with the highest level of security and confidentiality. We follow strict federal guidelines, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA), to ensure your data is protected at all times.
Here’s how we protect your information:
1. Secure Client Portal
All documents, credit reports, and updates are stored in a secure, encrypted client portal. Only you and authorized team members can access your information.
2. Encrypted Data Storage
Your personal information — including your login credentials, PIN, and credit data — is encrypted and stored using industry-standard security protocols.
3. Limited Internal Access
Only authorized personnel working directly on your file have access to your information. We do not share, sell, or disclose your data to third parties.
4. Secure Communication
We use secure channels for communication and do not request sensitive information through unsecured methods.
5. Compliance With Federal Law
We follow all consumer-protection rules under CROA, FCRA, and data-privacy laws to ensure your information is handled legally and ethically.
Your privacy and security are a top priority. We take every step necessary to protect your information throughout your entire 6- or 12-month contract.
5. How much does credit repair cost?
We offer three credit repair packages, each designed to meet different levels of service based on your credit goals. However, we understand that every credit situation is different, that’s why we can tailor-fit a plan to meet your specific needs and budget.
In some cases, clients don’t need full credit repair. Instead, they may benefit more from a strategic credit-building plan. For example, some clients have never established credit before, while others have repaired their credit and are simply looking to rebuild and strengthen their credit profile. We’re here to guide you with the right tools, resources, and personalized support and no matter where you’re starting from.
There are no hidden fees and no long-term commitments—just honest, customized service designed to help you reach your financial goals.
6. Are there any states where credit repair is illegal?
Yes. Credit repair is restricted or prohibited in a few states unless you are a licensed attorney or meet specific state requirements.
Currently, the states with the strictest credit repair laws are:
•Georgia – Credit repair is illegal unless you are a licensed attorney.
•South Carolina – Credit repair companies cannot operate unless they meet strict state regulations.
•Minnesota – Credit repair is heavily restricted and requires special registration and bonding.
At My Credit Results, we follow all state and federal rules.
If you live in a restricted state, we will let you know during your consultation whether we can legally work with you or whether you may need to seek alternative options.
7. Do you comply with CROA and FCRA?
Yes. My Credit Results fully complies with all federal consumer protection laws, including the Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
This means:
- We do not guarantee results or specific score increases (as required by CROA)
- We provide you with a written contract that outlines your rights and our responsibilities
- You get a 3-business-day cancellation window, as mandated by CROA
- We only dispute inaccurate, outdated, or unverifiable information
- Your information is handled securely and ethically
- All disputes follow legal guidelines set by the FCRA
- We only use legal methods based on consumer protection laws
Compliance protects you as the client and ensures that every step of the credit repair process is handled legally, professionally, and transparently.
8. Are you a credit law firm?
No. My Credit Results is not a law firm, and we do not provide legal advice. We are a credit education and credit-improvement service that uses consumer protection laws such as the FCRA, FDCPA, and CROA to help clients identify inaccuracies, dispute errors, and improve their credit profile.
If at any point a legal matter requires attorney support, we will recommend that you consult a licensed attorney.
Timeline & Expectations
9. How long does it take to complete the credit repair process?
The credit repair process typically takes 6 to 12 months, depending on the complexity of your credit report and the number of negative items that need to be disputed.
Each round of disputes can take 30–45 days for the credit bureaus to investigate and respond. Because most credit reports contain multiple negative items, several rounds of disputes are often required to address everything properly.
Your timeline depends on:
- How many negative items you have
- The age and severity of those items
- How quickly the credit bureaus and creditors respond
- Your current financial habits (payments, utilization, etc.)
- Whether new negative items appear during your contract
During your consultation, we will determine whether you need a 6-month contract or a 12-month contract based on your specific credit profile.
10. How soon will I see results?
Every client is different, but most clients begin to see activity or changes on their credit reports within the first 30 to 45 days after disputes are submitted.
However, results are never guaranteed and depend on how the credit bureaus and creditors respond to each investigation.
Here’s what you can realistically expect:
- The credit bureaus have 30 days to respond to each dispute
- Some items may be updated or removed sooner
- Some items may require multiple rounds of disputes
- More complex credit files may take longer
- New negative items can delay progress
While some clients experience early improvements, credit repair is a 6–12 month process, not an overnight fix. Staying consistent with your contract, keeping monitoring active, and following our recommendations gives you the best chance of seeing steady progress.
11. How long will it take to fix my credit?
Credit repair is not an overnight process.
For most clients, the credit improvement process typically takes 6 to 12 months, depending on the number of negative items on your report and how the credit bureaus respond.
During the consultation, we will determine whether your situation requires a:
- 6-month contract, or
- 12-month contract
Each round of disputes can take up to 30–45 days, and multiple rounds are often needed to address all inaccurate, outdated, or unverifiable items.
Your timeline may be influenced by:
- The number of negative accounts
- The age and severity of those items
- Your current credit habits (payments, utilization, etc.)
- How quickly credit bureaus and creditors respond
- Whether new negative items appear during the process
Most clients who stay consistent with their plan, keep monitoring active, and follow our recommendations see steady progress throughout their contract.
12. Does credit repair increase my credit score?
Credit repair can increase your credit score, but results vary for every client.
The purpose of credit repair is to address inaccurate, outdated, or unverifiable information on your credit report. When these negative items are corrected or removed, your credit score may improve as a result.
However, no company can guarantee a specific score increase because:
- Every credit profile is different
- The credit bureaus and creditors make the final decision
- Other factors like utilization, payment history, and new credit activity also affect your score
When you combine credit repair with good financial habits — such as paying bills on time, keeping utilization low, and avoiding new negative items — most clients experience meaningful improvements over their 6–12 month contract.
13. How much will my credit score improve by?
No credit repair company can legally guarantee a specific credit score increase.
Every credit report is different, and results depend on the credit bureaus and creditors, who make the final decision on whether an item is removed, updated, or verified.
What we can guarantee is:
•We will work consistently on your file
•We will dispute inaccurate, outdated, or unverifiable information
•We will guide you on improving your credit habits
•We will use every legal strategy available under federal consumer laws
Most clients who stay consistent with their contract, keep monitoring active, and follow our recommendations see noticeable credit improvements over time, especially during a 6–12 month period.
Your final results will always depend on your unique credit situation and how your credit bureaus respond.

These steps allow the process to run smoothly and help you achieve the highest possible credit score improvements.

Credit Monitoring
16. Will I need a credit monitoring service?
Yes. A credit monitoring service is required in order for us to work on your credit file.
We use MyScoreIQ® because it provides all three credit reports, all FICO® score versions, and updates every 30 days — which is necessary for the dispute process.
Credit monitoring is required because:
- We need your updated credit reports every month
- It shows bureau responses, changes, or new activity
- It allows us to track your progress accurately
- It helps detect identity theft or new negative items
- We cannot work on your file without active monitoring
You will need to keep your monitoring active for the entire length of your 6- or 12-month contract.

17. How long do I have to pay for credit monitoring with MyScoreIQ®?
You are required to keep your credit monitoring active for the entire duration of your contract, whether it is a 6-month or 12-month agreement.
Credit monitoring is essential because:
- We need updated reports every 30 days to continue the dispute process
- It shows all bureau changes, updates, and responses
- It allows us to track progress and verify improvements
- It prevents delays in your credit repair timeline
Credit monitoring must stay active without interruption.
If it is turned off or cancelled, we cannot legally or effectively continue working on your file, and your service will be paused until monitoring is restored.
18. How often do I have to pull my FICO scores?
You do not need to manually pull your FICO® scores.
When you sign up for MyScoreIQ®, your reports and scores update automatically every 30 days. This gives us fresh data each month to track changes, review bureau updates, and continue the dispute process.
Because credit repair requires monthly rounds of investigations, it’s important that your credit monitoring remains active the entire time you are in your 6-month or 12-month contract.
We will notify you if we ever need an additional update.
19. What is the cost of credit monitoring?
Because We Care About Your Success

Payments, Cancellations & Refunds
20. Do you offer a money-back guarantee or refund policy?
My Credit Results does not offer a money-back guarantee.
By federal law, no credit repair company can guarantee results because credit repair is based on consumer protection laws, and it is ultimately up to the credit bureaus and creditors to approve or deny the removal of negative items.
We always follow legal guidelines under the Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA), which prohibits guaranteeing specific outcomes or credit score increases.
However, we are committed to providing honest work, full transparency, and high-quality service throughout your credit improvement process.
21. Do I get my money back if you’re unable to remove certain items?
No. My Credit Results does not offer refunds based on whether a specific item is removed or not.
By federal law, no credit repair company can guarantee the removal of any negative item, because all results depend on the credit bureaus and creditors who make the final decision.
Your monthly payment is for the work performed, which includes audits, investigations, dispute strategies, correspondence, credit education, coaching, and ongoing support—not guaranteed outcomes.
While we cannot promise specific removals, we are committed to working diligently on your behalf and using every legal method available under consumer protection laws.
22. Can I cancel the service at any time?
No. Once you enter into a 6-month or 12-month contract, you cannot cancel at any time.
Credit repair is not a month-to-month service and not an overnight process. It takes consistent work over time, which is why contracts are structured for 6 or 12 months, depending on the number of negative items and the complexity of your credit report.
During the consultation, we determine whether your credit situation requires a:
- 6-month contract, or
- 12-month contract
This commitment ensures that we have enough time to properly dispute, monitor, and work through rounds of investigations with the credit bureaus and creditors.
Early cancellation is not permitted because the credit repair process requires time, consistency, and continued effort to achieve the best results.
federal and state compliance requirements.
